MacWorld commercial

Juicy Development presented their mobile applications at Macworld, and it was up to me to design booths, signage, and handouts for their display.

The Thursday before the trade show, my boss came to me with a dilemma. Macworld required all attendees with booths to provide a 15 second spot to display in the attendees’ section at the show. So I had only a weekend to create a spot from scratch with no equipment.

Knowing that this spot would air on a display on a crowded convention floor, I created a storyboard with minimal sound, so that the message would be understood, even if it could not be heard. After our actors came back with some raw 35mm shots, I edited and produced the spot. It was ready to go with the rest of the presentation.

And how was the spot received? The Macworld organizers chose to display the spot on the main Jumbotron out in front of the convention. Macworld charged advertisers a premium to display spots out front, but put our ad in its rotation for free, because of the quality of the spot.
